The kayagum, kayakeum, kayago or gayageum is a traditional Korean musical instrument of the zither family, with twelve strings of silk. It dates back to the sixth century and is probably the most famous Korean musical instruments. Its use has been developed by Ureuk musician at the court of Gaya. This is a close cousin of the Japanese koto and Chinese guzhen.
