The hulusi (Simplified Chinese pinyin: Hulusi, meaning gourd silk (or silky)) is a wind instrument
reed free dai culture made from a gourd and bamboo tubes. The sound is close to that of a clarinet.
It is a cousin of the Indian pungi.
It is originally an instrument of the Dai minority (Thai culture), in the autonomous prefecture
Dai Xishuangbanna in southern Yunnan Province, China. It is now quite common
in Yunnan Province, and known throughout the country.
