The guembri is a musical instrument with plucked strings. The instrument is coming from Gnaouas ("Guineans" in French).
It is found mainly in North Africa in Morocco, in Algeria, in Tunisia (used in the stambali) and in Mali where it was brought
by the Gnaouas, slaves from Guinea. It is also played by Tuaregs and Berbers. It is a derivative of African n'goni.
It consists of a round wooden handle sometimes turned and sometimes polychrome that sinks into a sound box
piriform monoxyle poplar, whose resonance table is made with a tight camel skin.
