The sarangi is a fiddle that is played in India, Pakistan and Nepal. Sarangi is feminine because
ends in i, but the French employs the masculine. The name comes from the Sanskrit sau (percent) and rank (color or mood)
indicating the deep, rich sound, approximating the human voice, sarangi.
First rudimentary folk use and become more sophisticated over the centuries,the sarangi is a bowed string instrument,
measuring about 70 cm, used in Indian classical music.
It consists of a rectangular box of resonance wooden mulberry (arkhor), covered with a goatskin
upon which an easel ivory or bone, placed on a leather reinforcement.
