The valiha is a variety of tubular zither in bamboo which we meet in all Madagascar. its origins are
unmistakably Indonesian and we find variants, sometimes more primitive, sometimes more evolved,
to most of the mountain Malay peoples, including those the Philippines(Filipinos). it is also present
at the people of the same origin (Jara, Edde, Curu, Raglai) of the Indo-Chinese peninsula
It consists of a segment of bamboo (from 60 to 130 cs long) serving at the same time as board of harmony
and as resonator thanks to a long longitudinal crack (hearing) between the not leaky knots of the extremities.
Initially, ropes were realized by unsticking of the longitudinal fibers of the central bark of the bamboo
in which they remained attached by their two extremities.
On the other hand, the attempts of electric valiha had no success because they made it lose it) romantic
and intimist tone; however, a modern variety, taken up on a resonance chamber became very popular.
